Our wedding is over, but it’s just the beginning of wedding season ‘round these parts.
Two of my best ladypals (and bridesmaids) are getting married in September and October, respectively. I am also a bridesmaid in their weddings! So. much. wedding. up. in. here.
I got the above dress (Leighton, from J.Crew bridal), but in light grey, for Laura’s wedding in October. We’re all wearing different styles & shades of grey (much like my bridesmaids did, but with shades of purple).
This dress was actually one that I liked for our wedding, but it was a bit too formal for my bridesmaids & the setting. Now I get the pleasure of wearing it in another wedding! It’s fate, I tell you.
Cake toppers!
Yesterday afternoon I made DIY personalized cake toppers, inspired by this blog post & Etsy. (I made a tiny Spoon too, but it’s lacking some floppy ears as a finishing touch.)
Feast your eyes on putaringon.it - yep, I really own that domain!
Funnily enough, I’m the one that built the website (on Virb - which, btw, is completely radtastical and SO easy to use) instead of my geeky future husband who builds websites (or rather, one website) ALL DAY LONG. :)
Today I made a veil. Booyah!
Well, it’s 99% done. I have some flair to add to it and then it will be complete. Eeee!
To all the betrothed ladies out there, you can do this - it’s really not that hard*! And it cost me a whooping $15 to make. I bought Russian netting for the under layer because it’s sturdier and more maleable, and the top/outer layer is actually a piece of netting I cut out of my Mom’s veil. (Awwww.)
(*I used this Hip Hostess tutorial as a guide, but did tweak it slightly to suit my veil preference.)
I met with Julie, the makeup artist for the wedding, tonight for my trial run. These are the results! Nothing too crazy, I want to look like myself but also want to be photographable (is that a word?).
The craziest thing is that she made my skin look flawless! I’m not a foundation kind of girl, I’m more of a tinted moisturizer sort of lady - because I am too lazy to put real effort into applying strategic coverup. Anyway, Julie is awesomesauce and I will take her makeup magic if it makes me look like a person who puts more than 10 mins of effort into putting her face on.
